SMALLPOX EPIDEMIC IN FARMINGTON
By: Karen Ru
DR. THEODORE WADSWORTH
Dr. Theodore Wadsworth of Southington contributed greatly towards treating smallpox during the Smallpox Epidemic in Farmington. He treated smallpox while serving in the Continental Army. He had been practicing medicine in Southington since 1780, and was one of the few people to practice variolations in the army. Both him and Dr. Todd were established physicians when founding the Todd-Wadsworth Smallpox Hospital in 1792.
